CoQ10 Capsules: amount per capsule, form, and what 60 means

A capsule label states the amount per capsule and the form used. Both matter before you compare two bottles.

Capsules are declared per capsule

A capsule product states the amount of CoQ10 in one capsule. That per capsule figure is the unit the rest of the label is built on.

It is also the figure to compare between two bottles, because two products with the same capsule count can declare very different amounts in each one.

60 capsules is a count, not a number of servings

This bottle holds 60 capsules. How many servings that represents depends on the portion the finished label states, which may be one capsule or more than one.

So capsule count on its own does not give you cost per serving. You need the count and the stated portion from the same label.

The form is part of the ingredient

CoQ10 is supplied in named forms, and the ingredients list has to say which one is used. Ubiquinone and ubiquinol are the two names you are most likely to meet.

Treat the form as part of the ingredient identity rather than as a grade. Two bottles declaring different forms are declaring different things, and the list is where you find out.

What else is in a capsule

A capsule is not only its named ingredient. The shell and any carrier are ingredients too, and they are declared alongside everything else.

  • The named CoQ10 form, with the amount per capsule
  • The capsule shell material, which decides vegetarian or vegan suitability
  • Any oil or carrier used to fill the capsule
  • Flow or bulking agents, where used
  • The allergen statement, including any may contain line

Comparing it with the rest of the range

CoQ10 is the only capsule product in our sports and specialist group, so the closest comparisons sit elsewhere in the shop. Hyaluronic Acid and Biotin are both single-ingredient solid dose products priced per pack.

Powders in this category are sold by weight and cannot be set against a capsule count without first converting both to a per portion figure.

What the label tells you

The full ingredients list, the amount per portion, allergens, dietary suitability, directions and storage are printed on the pack.

Read the label before you take any supplement, and check the product page for the format, pack size and price before you buy.
